After a long career with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service, Steve Olson returned to upstate New York to found Hidden Canyon Farm, located north of Lyons, between the cities of Syracuse and Rochester. There, he raises cattle and goats with his wife Sue and two sons.
Hidden Canyon Farm is blessed with excellent soils which yield lush pastures, abundant hay crops and bountiful grains. The farm boasts one of the best commercial beef cattle and meat goat herds in Western New York. The beef herd includes primarily Black Angus cattle, along with some Polled Hereford and Red Angus cows. The goat herd consists of beautiful Boer goats, which remove forage that isn’t consumed by the cattle. Steve has also expanded to distributing beef for a local freezer trade business.
