Big Food Spends $$$ to Lobby for Less Transparency

Big Food spent over $100 million in 2015 so far to fight transparent food labeling. Over $54 million of that was spent by Tyson Foods, Smithfield, Hormel, the National Pork Producers Association, and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association in order to repeal the Country of Origin Labeling requirements. These companies spend millions of dollars in lobbying and marketing so they don’t have to be transparent.
